Yamaichi Woodcraft, led by fifth-generation artisan Kazuo Ogura, is renowned for its exquisite handcrafted furniture. This workshop invites visitors to delve into the traditional Kiso craft of the hand-operated potter's wheel, a skill practiced by artisans since the Edo period. Participants will choose their preferred material, operate the potter's wheel, and then personalize their creation with an original design. The resulting piece will possess both beautiful craftsmanship and a pleasing, simple texture. Conveniently located a 15-minute drive from Tsumago-juku, it's an excellent follow-up activity after hiking from Magome to Tsumago. English support devices are available, with English guides also accessible for an additional charge.
