Experience Description
Located in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture, Koya Somekahi is a natural dyeing workshop dedicated to carrying on traditional Japanese crafts. We cultivate our own indigo plants in local fields without pesticides, using organic fertilizer, and produce our own fermented indigo dye (Sukumo). In this workshop, participants can witness the magic of natural indigo—how the cool indigo shade deepens and changes expression with each dip into the dye vat. Immerse yourself in the authentic culture and rich craft traditions of Taketa while creating your own one-of-a-kind keepsake.
