Amanohashidate

The Bridge to Heaven

About

When the Shinto creator gods Izanagi and Izanami created Japan, they made Amanohashidate as a bridge to connect the heavens and earth. Izanagi used this bridge to visit Izanami. The reality of this location is a 3.6 km land bridge with a walking path shaded by all varieties of pine tree and beautiful white sand beaches. At both ends are overlooks with cable cars that will take visitors up to panoramic views. Local cuisine, fresh seafood, and luxurious, Japanese inns with natural hot springs make the location an even more appealing setting for the ultimate romantic getaway. To top it off, this is the location where sacred sake was first brewed and offered to the gods at one of Japan’s oldest shrines, Motoise.
