Akita

Akita is one part of the larger Tohoku region of Japan, a name given to the area north of Tokyo on Japan largest island, Honshu. It is a remote and less developed region, known for its rugged landscapes and rural communities, far away from the neon lights and mass-tourism hubs of Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. It is a land steeped in history, mythology, and folklore, having retained its own identity over the centuries; from its charming dialect to its ancient traditions and tales, occupying a unique space in the Japanese archipelago.
